Parks Named NECC Rookie of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Elms College freshman forward Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week in women's basketball for the fourth consecutive week as announced by the league office on Monday.
Parks helped the Blazers to a pair of New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) road victories as Elms downed Mitchell College 69-58 and Lesley University, 73-29. Parks led all scorers with 29 points in the victory over the Mariners and repeated the feat with a 20-point effort against the Lynx to help the Blazers extend their winning streak to four games. Parks converted 54.8-percent (17 of 31) of her shots from the floor and 83.3-percent (15 of 18) of her free throw attempts. She also added 17 boards during the two-game week as well as two assists and two steals. Parks leads the NECC in points per game (19.4), points scored (136), and field goals made (54). She is second in free throws made (28), third in field goal percentage (55.1) and rebounds (65), and fourth in rebounds per game averaging 9.5.
