Last Meeting: Elms and Southern Vermont split the 2010-11 season series with the Mountaineers posting a 61-52 victory on Jan. 25 in Bennington, Vt., before the Blazers earned a 84-68 win on Feb. 8 at Picknelly Arena.

Setting The Scene: Elms takes the court Tuesday looking for its fifth consecutive win and its seventh win in the last eight games. Southern Vermont comes to Chicopee, Mass. fresh off a 77-69 win over Wheelock College and is in search of its second straight win.

Scouting The Mountaineers: Southern Vermont hits the hardwood at Picknelly Arena on the heels of a 77-69 victory over Wheelock to sweep the season series with the Wildcats on Jan. 21. Joa Claircius (Clerment, Fla.) led four Mountaineers' starters in double figures with a game-high 29 points on the strength of 10 of 19 shooting from the floor. Claircius added six steals, while Kourtney Hewitt (Bennington, Vt.) totaled 16 points and seven boards and was a perfect 6 for 6 from the free throw line. Ashliy Veliz (Glendale, Calif.) and Sherrita Hall (Temple Hill, Md.) chipped in 12 and 11 points respectively, while Veliz hauled in team-high 11 rebounds to help seal the victory. Shauna Poole (Lyndonville, Vt.) added seven assists in the winning effort.

Scouting The Blazers: Elms returns to Picknelly Arena looking to build its winning streak to six games following a come-from-behind 52-47 victory over Daniel Webster College on Jan. 21. Freshman forward Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) netted a team-high 16 points and secured a game-best 16 rebounds as the Blazers posted their first victory over the Eagles since the 2009-10 season. Elms, which shot 31.3-percent from the floor, had three players record double-doubles including senior forward Erika Murphy (Torrington, Conn.) who collected 10 points and 13 rebounds, and junior guard Jennifer Normandie (Westford, Mass.) who totaled 12 points and 12 rebounds in the winning effort. The Blazers' offense was directed by senior guard Carolyn Talmadge (Wilbraham, Mass.) who dished out six assists and scored in six points in addition to pulling down eight boards. Elms enjoyed a 63-41 advantage on the glass, held Daniel Webster to 25.4-percent shooting from the field, and hit on 10 of 11 from the free throw line (90.9-percent).

Fantastic Freshman: Parks, who was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for the sixth time this season, has been nothing short of stellar as she helped the Blazers to a 3-0 week by totaling 51 points and 51 rebounds  that included a 21-point and 18-rebound effort against Bay Path College. Parks is currently the league-leader in points scored (286), points per game (17.9), field goals made (113) and free throws made (60).
