Women's Basketball Garners Second Seed in NECC Championship Tournament

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The Elms College women's basketball team earned the second seed in the 2011-12 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship tournament and will host seventh-seed Bay Path College on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena in the quarterfinal round.

Regis College finished the regular season 18-0 and earned the top seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Championship. The Pride (21-4 overall, 18-0 NECC) earned a first round bye and will host the semifinals and finals begining Friday, February 24.

Elms earned the second seed after finishing its conference slate, 14-4 - it's best-ever league mark - and tallied a 17-8 overall record which stands as the most wins in a single season in program history.

The top seven teams qualify for the NECC Championship. Predetermined tie-breaking procedures were used to seed teams with identical conference winning percentages.

First round games will be played on Tuesday, February 21 at the higher seed. Winners will advance to the semifinals held at Regis on Friday, February 24. Semifinal winners will play Saturday, February 25 at Regis.
