French, Parks Garner NECC Weekly Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College junior men’s basketball player Andre French (Torrington, Conn.) was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week and Blazers’ freshman women’s basketball player Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) was selected as NECC Rookie of the Week as announced by the league on Monday.

French helped Elms pick up its first two wins of the season, upending a pair of five-win teams in Westfield State University and Springfield College. French was the game's top scorer against Westfield totaling a collegiate career-high 36 points, and for the fourth time in five games was the Blazers' leading scorer with 21 points against Springfield. For the week, French averaged 28.5 points per game, added eight rebounds, dished out six assists and recorded seven steals while committing just four turnovers en route to his first weekly accolade of the season.

Parks was named the league’s rookie of the week for the third straight week after helping the Blazers to a 2-0 week by averaging a team-best 19 points per game including a 26-point effort against Anna Maria College. She added a team-best 12 points against Bard College and finished weekly action with 14 rebounds (7.0 per contest), five steals and a blocked shot.
