Gonzalez, Parks Earn NECC Weekly Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College senior guard Daniel Gonzalez (East Windsor, Conn.) was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week for men’s basketball, and freshman forward Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week in women’s basketball as announced by the conference office on Monday.

During the Blazers' last four games, Gonzalez has been a tremendous force off the bench, averaging just over 19 points per game and hitting on 25 of 47 shots from the field (53.2-percent) including a sensational 15 of 33 (45.5-percent) from three-point range. Gonzalez has been a game-changer for Elms, helping the squad win each of its last four contests and added a game-high 29 points in a seven point win over Marymount University. This is his first NECC weekly award of the season.

Parks continues to lead the charge for the Blazers’ women’s team and has now been named NECC Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season. Parks scored a total of 52 points during Elms' last three games hitting on 19 of 41 from the floor (46.3-percent) and also hauled in 37 rebounds - both team highs. Parks was the Blazers' leading scorer against Westfield State and Bay Path College netting 15 and 24 points respectively.
