Men’s Swimming Competes Falls To Trinity College, 121-70

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Elms College
sophomore Zach LeBarron (Bennington, V.T.) won a
pair of events to help pace the Blazers in a 121-70 loss to Trinity
College in Wednesday evening’s men’s swimming dual meet
hosted by Mount Holyoke College.
With the loss, Elms falls to 4-3 on the season.
LeBarron clocked a top time of 22.11 in the 50-yard freestyle and
swam a blazing 49.85 in the 100-yard freestyle to earn first place
honors in the event. LeBarron finished just one one-hundredth of a
second shy of tying his own school record of 49.84 set earlier this
season.
Sophomore Garrett Brune (Lakeville, Mass.) swam a
speedy 1:07.55 in the 100-yard breaststroke to win the event.
The team of senior Jason DiMauro (New Hartford,
Conn.), Brune, junior Nick Whitman (Florence,
Mass.) and LeBarron turned in a time of 1:49.04 in the
200-yard medley relay to place second.
Sophomore Mark Gehring (West Springfield,
Mass.) swam a 10:43.29 in the 1,000-yard freestyle to earn
second place honors.
The Blazers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 23 when they travel
to Gordon College. Elms will take on host Gordon and Norwich
University in tri-meet action beginning at 12:00 p.m.
