Men's And Women's Swimming Compete At NEISDA Championships

preliminary results
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, V.T. - After the first session of
the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association
(NEISDA) Championships, the men's and women's swim teams are
competing well.
For the women, freshman Tessa Dudunake (Northampton,
Mass.) set a new school record with a time of 25.85 in the
first leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay, and the team of
Dudunake, freshman Chalis Bird (Windsor, Mass.),
sophomore Ashley Arbo (Kensington, Conn.) and
junior Theresa Pitassi (Naugatuck, Conn.) set a
school record with a time of 1:45.46 to place sixth and earn a spot
in the championship finals tonight.
Dudunake will appear in the championship finals in the 50-yard
breaststroke after clocking a time of 32.72, while sophomore
Katie Roberts (Torrington, Conn.) will compete in
the consolation finals of the event.
Arbo set a school record in the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.96) to
finish eighth and earn a slot in tonight's consolation finals,
while Pitassi and Bird registered times of 26.22 and 26.38
respectively in the 50-yard backstroke and claim a spot in the
consolation finals of the event.
On the men's side, the team of sophomore Zach LeBarron
(Bennington, V.T.), junior Adam Tonnesen (Norwich,
Conn.), freshman Mark Gehring (West Springfield,
Mass.) and sophomore Garrett Brune (Lakeville,
Mass.) set a school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay
(1:31.51) to place 5th and secure a berth in the champioinship
finals.
LeBarron placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of
22.01 to finish fourth and move on to the championship finals,
while Brune set a new school mark in the 50-yard breaststroke with
a time of 29.44, good enough for a spot in the consolation
finals.
Elms' 400-yard medley relay team finished ninth and will compete
in tonight's consolation finals.
