POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Elms College sophomore
Zach LeBarron (Bennington, V.T.) won two
individual events and set a new school record in the 100-yard
freestyle in Saturday afternoon’s Vassar Invitational
men’s swim meet. Elms finished the meet fourth out of four
teams.
LeBarron clocked a speedy time of 49.60 in the 100-yard freestyle
for a new school record and registered a 22.40 in the 50-yard
freestyle to earn first place in both events.
Sophomore Garrett Brune (Lakeville, Mass.)
finished third in the 50-yard breaststroke (30.18) while seniors
Jason DiMauro (New Hartford, Conn.) and
Mike Starke (Chicopee, Mass.) finished in fourth
and fifth place with respective times of 31.74 and 32.31.
Brune added a third place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke
(1:07.80) while DiMauro clocked a 1:09.75 to finish fourth in the
event.
Junior Nick Whitman (Florence, Mass.) added a
third place finish in the 50-yard butterfly with a mark of
26.89.
Sophomore Adam Tonnesen (Norwich, Conn.) earned
third place honors in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.02) and a
fourth place showing in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of
27.98.
Freshman Mark Gehring (West Springfield, Mass.)
swam to a third place time of 5:22.39 in the 500-yard freestyle,
and garnered fourth place honors in the 200-yard freestyle
(2:00.77).
Elms concludes its 2009-10 season at the New England
Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA)
Championships beginning on Friday, Feb. 19-20 in White River
Junction, V.T.
