Men's Golf Claims Second Place in Blazers Spring Invitational

GRANBY, Mass. – The Elms College men's golf team closed out the 2014-15 season with a second-place finish in the Blazers Spring Invitational, hosted at Westover Golf Course Wednesday afternoon.

The Blazers carded a team score of 325, finishing 18 strokes off the top of the leaderboard. Sophomore Chris Miele (South Hadley, Mass.) claimed a share of first overall on the individual leaderboard, firing a 75 through 18 holes before falling to Worcester State's David Rixham in playoff holes. Freshman Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished tied at ninth overall after shooting a 78 on the day. Freshman Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) tied at 18th with 82, while junior Dan Olive (Jefferson Township, N.J.) tied at 31st with a 90. Sophomore Ryan Finneral (Tewksbury, Mass.) rounded out the Blazers golfers, taking 38th overall with a 92.

Rhode Island College completed the season sweep, winning both the Blazers Fall Invitational and the Blazers Spring Invitational, with a score of 307. Trailing Elms was Worcester State and Babson College (327) tied at third, Westfield State (334) at fifth, Babson College White (340) was sixth, Newbury College (348) at seventh,  Castleton State (351) was eighth, UMass-Dartmouth (354) at ninth, Sage College (397) was tenth, and Eastern Nazarene (456) completed the tournament field in 11th.

The event was the final action of the season for Men's Golf. The Blazers will return to action for the 2015-16 season next fall.
