Men's Golf 17th at Wildcat Spring Invitational

CRANSTON, R.I. – The Elms College men's golf team finished 17th overall at the 2015 Wildcat Spring Invitational, hosted by Johnson & Wales University (RI) at the Cranston Country Club over the weekend.

The Blazers carded a team score of 658 (336-322) in two rounds of competition, with Elms posting the top improvement from the first round to the second round, shaving 14 strokes off their score. Sophomore Chris Miele (South Hadley, Mass.) fired a team-low 154 (80-74) to finish tied at 13th on the individual leaderboard. Freshman Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) shot a 163 (84-79), while classmate Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) also shot a 163 (80-83) to take a share of 50th overall. Junior Dan Olive (Jefferson Township, N.J.) finished tied at 93rd with a 178 (92-86), and sophomore Ryan Finneral (Tewksbury, Mass.) rounded out the Blazers golfers, taking a share of 100th with a 186 (92-94).

Tufts University won the event with a team score of 610 (300-310). Williams College (614) was second, followed by Manhattanville College (621), and Salem State and Milddlebury College (622) tied at fourth to make up the top five of the team leaderboard. Nichols (633) was sixth, trailed by Endicott and Western New England (634) at seventh, Rhode Island College and Husson (638) tied at ninth, Providence College and Johnson & Wales (RI) (644) tied at 11th, Babson College (645) in 13th, Wentworth and Southern Maine (648) at 14th, Worcester State (657) in 16th, Elms (658) at 17th, UMass-Dartmouth (660) in 18th, Suffolk (676) at 19th, Roger Williams University (680) in 20th, and St. Joseph's (ME) (686) rounded out the field in 21st-place.

The Blazers will return to the links when they host their annual Blazers Spring Invitational, hosted at the Westover Golf Course Wednesday afternoon.
