Men's Golf 20th after Day One of Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Elms College men's golf sits in a tie at 20th overall in the 25-team field at the 31st annual Duke Nelson Invitational, hosted by Middlebury College at Ralph Myhre Golf Course Saturday afternoon.

The Blazers carded a team score of 337 for a share of 20th on the team leaderboard with Endicott College. Nick Smith leads the Blazers golfers after firing an 81 after 18 holes of play. Chris Miele recorded an 83, while Dan Olive shot an 86 in the No. 5 spot. Brian Cowels registered an 87 on day one, and Mike Fleury rounded out the Elms golfers with a 99.

Host Middlebury College sits atop the team leaderboard after shooting a 305 in the first round. RPI is second with a 309, followed by Rochester (313), Johnson & Wales (315), Salem State (315), Trinity (317), Williams (317, Skidmore (317), UMass-Dartmouth (318), Castleton (322) and Manhattanville (322) rounded out the top 10 of the leaderboard.

The Blazers will look to move up the leaderboard on final day of competition at the Duke Nelson Invitational Sunday morning at Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
