Mount Saint Mary College Tops Women’s Swimming, 118.5-84.5

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College senior Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.) clocked a new school record in the 200-meter freestyle, but the Blazers fell 118.5-84.5 to Mount Saint Mary College in Saturday afternoon's dual meet at Partyka Natatorium.

With the loss, Elms moves to 2-7 on the season, while Mount Saint Mary improves to 5-3 overall.

DeGrazia set a new school record in the 200-meter freestyle powering to a time of 2:14.82 and also won the 100-meter freestyle with a mark of 1:02.86 and the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:51.80.

Freshman Abigail Will (Hopkinton, Mass.) earned top honors in the 100-meter individual medley (1:18.24) and the 50-meter butterfly (33.17), while senior Kelly Gilhooly (Bloomfield, Mass.) notched second place in 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:21.47.

Freshman Kelly O'Connell (Monson, Mass.) registered a third place time of 12:04.04 in the 800-meter freestyle and sophomore Crystal Archibald (Portland, Maine) secured third place in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:37.95).

Elms' 200-meter medley relay team of Gilhooly, senior Gabrielle Calvanese (Agawam, Mass.), Will, and freshman Sarah Swart (Willington, Conn.) raced to a second place finish (2:26.95), while the squad of freshman Rebecca Carterud (South Windsor, Conn.), Archibald, freshman Kim Panetta (Belchertown, Mass.) and sophomore Miranda Pratt (Southington, Conn.) followed in third with a time of 2:43.24.

The women's team hosts Western New England University on Wednesday, January 15 at 6:00 p.m. at Partyka Natatorium.
