Women’s Soccer Draws Messiah College in NCAA Division III Championship First Round

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College women's soccer team will travel to Grantham, Pa. on Saturday, November 12 to take on No. 1 Messiah College in the NCAA Division III Championship first round at 11:00 a.m. at Shoemaker Field.

Elms (10-5-4) is making its first-ever NCAA postseason appearance after clinching the New England Collegiate Conference's (NECC) automatic bid to the postseason behind a 1-0 win over Lesley University in the conference tournament championship game on Nov. 5.

Messiah (17-0-1), ranked first nationally in the latest D3soccer.com poll, secured its fifth consecutive MAC Commonwealth Conference championship following a 5-1 victory over Lebanon Valley College last Saturday. The Falcons are making their 12th appearance in the NCAA postseason tournament and have competed in the national title game in each of the last four seasons, winning in 2008 and 2009.

Skidmore College (13-6) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (14-3-3) are the other two teams in the Messiah pod and will square off against each other on Nov. 12 at Shoemaker Field. Game time is 1:30 p.m. The winners will then meet on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 51:00 p.m. at Shoemaker Field.
