Newbury struck first with an unassisted goal from Tomaselli in the 12th minute and held its one goal lead until the 61st minute when Gorneault controlled a pass from senior forward Erica Griffo (Syracuse, N.Y.) and fired the ball into the net knotting the game at 1-1.

Four minutes later, Tomaselli tipped the scales back in the Nighthawks' favor, 2-1.

Trailing 2-1 with 11 minutes left in regulation, Gorneault connected again in the 79th minute with her second score of the contest this one on a pass from sophomore midfielder Victoria Cebula (Granby, Mass.) which evened the game at 2-2 and forced a pair of extra frames.

Elms enjoyed a 6-2 shot advantage in the first overtime, and a 5-1 advantage in the second, but could not score the go-ahead goal.

Newbury goalkeeper Rachel Wyszynski (Wilbraham, Mass.) was solid in the overtime periods keeping the game a stalemate, registering four of her 14 saves in the final 30 minutes of play.

Elms' senior goalkeeper Kelly Callahan (Monson, Mass.) and sophomore net-minder Hayley Zisk (Baldwinville, Mass.) split the duty between the pipes and tallied three saves apiece.
