Killion’s Early Strike Lifts Women’s Soccer to 1-0 Victory over Becker College

LEICESTER, Mass. – Elms College senior forward Jennifer Killion (Cambridge, Mass.) scorched the net for the game's only goal in the third minute of play to lift the Blazers to a 1-0 victory over Becker College in Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's soccer game at Alumni Field.

With the victory, Elms extends its winning streak to three games to improve to 6-4-3 overall, 3-1-2 in league action. Becker falls to 6-6-2 on the season, 4-2 in NECC play.

At the 2:18 mark of the first half, Killion laced a shot that traveled just beyond the outstretched reach of Becker goalkeeper Kaitlyn Rose (North Attleboro, Mass.) to give Elms an early 1-0 advantage.

The Blazers held its 1-0 lead throughout the first half, edging the Hawks in first half shot total, 6-4, before Becker strung together some scoring opportunities in the second stanza.

Elms' senior goalkeeper Kelly Callahan (Monson, Mass.) batted away six shots to preserve the shutout and shut down Hawks' leading goal-scorer, Caroline Plunkett (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) who had five shots in the loss.

Rose finished with four saves for Becker in the contest.

Elms returns to non-conference action on Thursday, Oct. 20 when it hosts Mount Holyoke College at 4:00 p.m.
