SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Elms College field hockey squad were held scoreless in a battle with host Union (N.Y.), 4-0, in a non-conference game at Frank Bailey Field Tuesday night.

After nearly 20 minutes of scoreless play, the Blazers were called for a foul in the goal box, resulting in a penalty stroke for the Dutchwomen. On the ensuing attempt, Union sophomore midfielder Alexa Steriti placed a shot past Elms junior goalie Samantha Alvino (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) to put the Dutchwomen up 1-0. The Blazers held Union off the scoreboard the remainder of the first half

With 20:30 to play in the contest, Union senior forward Allison Troy found sophomore forward Jessica Mulvey at the left side of the net, where Mulvey tucked the ball past Alvino to push the Dutchwomen lead to 2-0. In the 60th minute, Union extended their lead to 3-0 as junior defender Lauren Pacheco ripped a shot from seven yards out into the back of the net. The Dutchwomen's final tally came just over three minutes later on a backhander from Troy to deliver a 4-0 win for Union.

The Dutchwomen outshot the Blazers, 41-3, during the contest. Alvino made a season-high 22 saves for Elms, while Union sophomore keeper Laura Aptowitz stopped the lone shot she faced.

The Blazers drop to 1-9 on the season, while Union improves to 3-5 overall. Elms will look to return to the win column in a non-conference match at Mount Ida Friday night. Faceoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
