Field Hockey Falls to Anna Maria College, 5-0

PAXTON, Mass. – Elms College junior goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass.) turned away 19 shots but Anna Maria College received two scores each from Katherine Bant (Johnstown, N.Y.) and Marybeth McClune (Worcester, Mass.) to help lift the AMCATS to a 5-0 victory over the Blazers in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate  Conference (NECC) field hockey game at AMCAT Field in Paxton, Mass.

With the loss, Elms concludes its season 2-13 overall, 1-5 in NECC action, while Anna Maria moves to 7-11 on the season, 4-2 in league action.

The sides played scoreless field hockey for the first 27 minutes of play before McClune took a pass from Shannon Looney (Leicester, Mass.) and found the back of the cage to give the AMCATS a 1-0 lead at the 27:31 mark.

Anna Maria held its one goal advantage until the 38:24 mark when Bant netted her first score on a feed from Nichole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) to lift the lead to 2-0.

McClune struck for her second goal in the 48th minute of play, Katie Schebel (Ludlow, Mass.) scored in the 54th minute and Bant capped the scoring at the 57:51 mark to seal the 5-0 win for the AMCATS.

Anna Maria outshot Elms 27-3 led by Bant's 11 shots on goal.
