Box Score

NASHUA, N.H. – Elms College freshman forward Tatiana Frizzell (Brattleboro, Vt.) tallied her first collegiate-career goal but Rivier College used a goal and an assist from Kayla O'Reilly (Marshfield, Mass.) to edge the Blazers, 2-1 in Saturday afternoon's non-conference field hockey contest at Raider Field.

With the loss, Elms falls to 0-2 on the season, while Rivier improves to 2-0 overall.

Rivier found the scoring touch early as O'Reilly fired in a goal just 1:29 into the contest on a pass by Presleigh Skelley (Wolfeboro, N.H.) to give the Raiders an early 1-0 lead.

Rivier maintained that lead into the second half until Frizzell deflected freshman forward Meghan Goodrow's (Sunderland, Mass.) shot into the net to even the game at 1-1 in the 48th minute of play.

Three minutes later, the Raiders regained the lead when O'Reilly found Lindsay Rettenmeier (Ashford, Conn.) who struck for what proved to be Rivier's game-winning goal.

Raiders' goaltender Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, Mass.) fended off Elms' final onslaught which included a one-timer shot from Goodrow, to help Rivier preserve the one-goal victory.

Flagg finished with seven saves in the winning effort, while Blazers' junior goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass.) suffered the loss, turning away four shots in the process.

Elms returns to non-conference action when it hosts Smith College on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 4:30 p.m. at Leary Field.
