Mount Holyoke College Sweeps by Women’s Volleyball, 3-0

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College junior middle hitters Christine Searles (Tolland, Mass.) and JC Pickett (Chicopee, Mass.) totaled five kills each, but Mount Holyoke College used a match-high nine kill effort from Martina Kneifel (Oro Valley, Ariz.) to help pace the Lyons to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-14) sweep in Wednesday evening's non-conference women's volleyball match at Picknelly Arena.

With the loss, Elms moves to 6-18 overall and will host Mitchell College in conference action on Saturday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m. to close out its regular season. Mount Holyoke improves to 10-13 overall.

Mount Holyoke used seven kills from Emma Sweeting (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) and five kills from Kristina Weld (Warwick, Mass.) to help pace the Lyons behind the nine off the bench from Kneifel.

Natalie Lyon (Oakton, Va.) paced the attack with 28 assists, while Weld helped in the serving game with five of the team's 13 service aces. Athena Donta (Hadley, Mass.) and Susannah Gardiner (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) added seven digs each in the match, while Kneifel and Sweeting contributed five each.

The Blazers received a 10-assist effort from sophomore setter Shannon Bolton (Shelton, Conn.), while junior libero Caitlyn Larvey (Greenfield, Mass.) dug a match-best nine balls in defeat. Bolton added seven digs, while Searles and Pickett chipped in five digs apiece.
