Women’s Volleyball Falls to Plattsburgh State University, Plymouth State University

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Elms College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-10,25-13, 25-15) loss to Plattsburgh State University and a 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-8) loss to Plymouth State University in day two action of the Best Western-Ground Round Cardinal Classic on Saturday afternoon.

With the losses, Elms falls to 1-10 on the season.

In Elms' loss to the host Cardinals, junior middle hitter JC Pickett (Chicopee, Mass.) floored a team-high six kills, junior middle hitter Christine Searles (Tolland, Mass.) added five kills and sophomore setter Shannon Bolton (Shelton, Conn.) dished out 16 helpers to lead the offensive charge for the Blazers.

Junior libero Caitlin Larvey (Greenfield, Mass.) totaled a match-best 11 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Alexandra Mack (Wilbraham, Mass.) collected four kills and two service aces.

Against Plymouth State, Pickett, Mack and sophomore middle hitter Joanna Krupa (Chicopee, Mass.) smashed four kills each and Bolton again handed out 16 assists. Larvey added a team-best 11 digs, while Mack totaled nine in the losing effort.

Bolton was named to the all-tournament team following the two-day event. 

Elms returns to non-conference play on Tuesday, September 17 when it hosts the University of St. Joseph (Conn.) at 7:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena.
