Chicopee, Mass.- The Elms College women's basketball team bested Wheelock College on Tuesday night by the score of 69-49.
The Blazer defense suffocated Wheelock College all night, as the Wildcats shot just 24.3 percent on the game. Niah Pantry was too much to handle for Wheelock. She totaled 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Kayla Soto also chipped in with 14 points and eight rebounds. Regina LeBlanc was a key contributor on offense and defense for the Blazers, as she totaled eight assists, two blocks, and three steals.
The Blazers owned the glass, as they grabbed 57 rebounds compared to Wheelock's 43.
Wheelock's Katie Walsh had a monster game. She finished with 18 points to go along with 17 rebounds. Emma Silver finished with 14 points and four rebounds.
Wheelock did win the turnover battle however, forcing Elms to turn it over 17 times compared to Wheelock's 11.
The Blazers move to 6-9 on the season, and 5-4 in the New England Collegiate Conference. Elms has now won five of its last six games. Wheelock falls to 4-10 on the season, and 3-6 in the NECC. The Blazers will be back on the court Saturday, January 27th, in a road showdown with Dean College while Wheelock hosts Southern Vermont.
