BENNINGTON, Vt. – Niah Pantry posted her second-consecutive double-double, finishing with 22 points and 14 rebounds, as the Elms College women's basketball team extended its winning streak to four games with a 75-38 thumping of Southern Vermont on Thursday.
Pantry hit 9-of-16 shots in the game and picked up six of her 14 rebounds on the offensive end to lead a dominant Blazer performance. Freshman Regina Leblanc added 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the win.
The Blazers (5-8, 4-3 New England Collegiate Conference) jumped out to an 11-1 lead and never looked back, leading by double-digits the rest of the way. Elms shot 42 percent from the field in the game (31-of-74) and held Southern Vermont (3-14, 2-6) to just 22 percent shooting (12-of-54). The Blazers outrebounded the Mountaineers 50-36 and turned 27 SVC turnovers into 26 points.
Maddy Main led Southern Vermont with 22 points and 10 rebounds. She hit 8-of-20 shots and added four steals and two blocks in the game. Taylor Mallett added six points and six boards for the Mountaineers.
The win is the fourth in a row for the Blazers, all of which have come by double-digits against NECC foes. Elms will look to extend the streak to five games when the Blazers visit Becker on Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. Southern Vermont hosts Newbury at the same time.
