Swim Teams Complete Preliminaries Of Day On At NEISDA Championships

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. – The Elms College men's and women's swim teams completed the preliminary events of day one at the 2010-11 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships, Friday morning.

On the men's side, junior Nick Provost (Three Rivers, Mass.) clocked a time of 2:10.52 to set a new school record in the 200-yard individual medley.

Provost will join sophomore Mark Gehring (West Springfield, Mass.) and junior Garrett Brune (Lakeville, Mass.) in Friday evening's finals.

For the women, freshman Ashley Kirchner (Dalton, Mass.) set a new school mark in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21.75.

Sophomore Tessa Dudunake (Northampton, Mass.) registered a new school record in the first leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay (25.80), helping the squad of freshman Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.), Kirchner and sophomore Chalis Bird (Windsor, Mass.) also stake a new school record (1:43.70).

The women's 400-yard medley relay team of DeGrazia, Dudunake, Kirchner and Bird also established a new school mark, touching the wall in a time of 4:18.83.

Dudunake, Kirchner, Bird, sophomore Emalee Furtek (Ludlow, Mass.) and junior Katie Roberts (Torrington, Conn.) will all advance to this evening's day one finals.
