Madison Messier Named First Team All-NECC

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College sophomore Madison Messier (Warren, Mass.) was selected to the All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) First Team, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Messier had a record-breaking sophomore campaign, setting new program single-season marks in points (40) and goals (17), surpassing the records set by Emily Halkett in the 1989 and 1986 seasons, respectively. For the season, Messier ranked second in the NECC in goals and points, and fourth in assists with six and shots with 61. In conference play, Madison scored 11 goals in 10 games with four assists for 26 points. Messier delivered six game-winning goals for the Blazers, including crucial 1-0 victories over Clark (Sep. 27) and Regis (Oct. 11).
Freshman Olivia Keane (Enfield, Conn.) was selected as the Blazers representative on the 2016 NECC All-Sportsmanship team.
The Blazers fell to Regis, 2-1, in the 2016 NECC Championship match to wrap up the 2016 season with a 10-10 record and a 7-3 mark in the NECC, the program's best record in conference play since joining the NECC in 2008.
