Women's Soccer Wraps Up 2024 Season in Play-In Round Loss to Regis

WESTON, Mass. - The Elms College Women's Soccer team traveled to Regis College for the Play-In Round of the 2024 GNAC Women's Soccer Tournament on Thursday evening to conclude their 2024 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Play-In Round matchup would begin with shots from both, including shots from sophomore forward/midfielder Emily Basua (Oxnard, Cali.) and senior midfielder Caroline Wilcox (Pomfret Center, Conn.). Regis would take three shots, one being saved by senior goalkeeper Mackenzie Quick (Barrington, N.H.), but the third shot would find its way past Quick to score the Pride's first goal of the evening. The Blazers would see additional shots from senior midfielder Lindsey Jeffrey (Lincoln, R.I.) and graduate midfielder Hannah Kolodziey (East Longmeadow, Mass.), but neither shot would connect for a goal. Regis would counter Elms' offensive attempts, taking four more shots. Quick would make two saves, but the Pride would score their second goal. Heading into the 42nd minute, Regis would take four more shots, Quick would make three saves. The Pride would once again score a goal to increase their lead 3-0 going into the halftime break.

The Blazers would come out the gate seeing junior forward Jamie McDonough (Dedham, Mass.) taking two shots in the opening minutes. In the 63rd minute, Quick would make a save, followed by a shot from sophomore forward Kaylee Little (Brighton, Mass.), but it would be saved by the Regis goalkeeper. The Pride would follow suit by scoring three unanswered goals. During the Regis scoring spree, Elms would bring in graduate goalkeeper Hailey Magierowski (Brimfield, Mass.) in the 73rd minute. As the clock began to wind down to the final minutes of play, graduate forward Kellie Smith (Marshfield, Mass.) would take one last shot, but it would not be successful and the Pride would defeat the Blazers 6-0 in their final contest of the 2024 season.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • McDonough would take two shots with one on net.

  • Quick would record nine saves of the 13 shots she faced.

  • Magierowski made one save of the three shots she faced.

  • Basua, Jefferey, Kolodziey, Little, Smith, and Wilcox would each take one shot, with a combined two shots on net.
