Women's Basketball Can't Dig Out Of Early Hole At ENC

QUINCY, Mass. -- The Elms College women's basketball team could never dig out of an early hole at Eastern Nazarene on Tuesday, falling 76-58 in New England Collegiate Conference play.

The Blazers (3-5, 1-2 NECC) fell behind 19-9 after the first quarter and trailed 27-9 early in the second quarter. Elms cut the deficit to just eight late in the second quarter and early in the third, but could never catch all the way up.

Molly Moulton (North Adams, Mass.) led Elms with 15 points and four assists before fouling out. She hit just 3-of-10 from the field but went 9-of-10 at the free-throw line. Kayla Aberdale added 12 points for the Blazers and didn't miss a shot all night. She went 3-of-3 from the field, including 2-of-2 from 3-point range, and connected on all four of her free throw attempts.

Jenn Burnham led all scorers with 25 points off the bench for the Lions. Kyra Fleharty added 13 for ENC (7-1, 3-0 NECC).

Elms shot 28.8 percent (15-of-52) from the field, while ENC hit 41.4 percent (20-of-70). The Blazers connected on 81.3 percent of their free throw attempts (26-of-32). ENC out-rebounded Elms 51-33 and held a 21-12 advantage in second-chance points.

The Blazers will play their final game before the New Year at St. Joseph (CT) on Dec. 8 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Nazarene will visit New England College on Dec. 6.
