Blazer Women Cruise To Third Straight Win

MEDFORD, Mass. -- Angelica Peguero-Flores poured in 19 points and added nine rebounds to lead the Elms College women's basketball team to its third consecutive win, a 77-40 victory over Lesley University in New England Collegiate Conference play on Saturday.

Peguero-Flores hit 7-of-12 from the field and 5-of-7 free throws and also nabbed four steals in 23 minutes off the bench. Niah Pantry (New Haven, Conn.) and Molly Moulton (North Adams, Mass.) each added 10 points for Elms (6-5, 2-2 NECC).

The Blazers jumped out to an 18-8 lead after the first quarter and built the advantage to 39-15 by the break, and led by as many as 42 points.

Elms shot 45.6 percent from the field and held the Lynx (0-10, 0-4 NECC) to 32.7 percent overall and just 1-of-10 from 3-point range. The Blazers dominated the glass, with a 44-29 rebounding advantage, leading to a 19-4 lead in second-chance points.

Dakota Jones (Torrence, Calif.) led Lesley with 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting and added a game-high 17 rebounds before fouling out. Kacey Johnson (Riverdale, Ga.) added nine points for the Lynx.

Elms continue NECC play on Jan. 8 at Mitchell while Lesley will host Southern Vermont on Jan. 7.
