Blazers Can’t Keep Up With Pilgrims

HENNIKER, N.H. – The Elms College women's basketball team fell behind early and could not catch up as they were downed by New England College 78-45 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play.
With the win, the Pilgrims will improve to 15-9 overall with a 14-3 record in the NECC. Elms will fall to 11-13 on the season with a 7-10 record in the NECC.
Molly Moulton led the Blazer offense with nine points. Niah Pantry tied a game-high eight rebounds. Pantry also had a team-high three assists. Regina LeBlanc had three steals in the contest. The Blazers had 10 different players tally points in the contest.
The Pilgrims were led by Deleia Boutwell who tallied a career-high 24 points on 11-16 shooting. Rene Hudson added 24 points, six rebounds, six assists, and six steals. Boutwell grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Hudson's six assists and six steals were both game-highs. The Pilgrims had nine different players record a point in the contest.
A layup by Deleia Boutwell and a three-pointer by Rene Hudson gave the Pilgrims a quick 5-0 lead. Elms would get a big three-point play by Niah Pantry to close the gap. The teams traded points for majority of the quarter but 14 points on 5-9 shooting by Hudson allowed for the Pilgrims to gap the Blazers. The Pilgrims led 22-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Pilgrim offense would continue to roll in the second quarter as Boutwell tallied 12 points in the second. Hudson continued her hot offense as she recorded five assists in the quarter. The Pilgrims extended their lead to 17 as they led 44-27 at the halftime break.
The Pilgrims outscored the Blazers by a 16-6 margin in the third quarter, which continued to extend their lead. The Pilgrims continued to extend their lead in the fourth quarter as the large first half lead was too much for the Blazers to overcome.
The Blazers have their regular season finale at home this Saturday when they host Souther Vermont College. The Blazers will be celebrating the careers of their four seniors.
