Rolocut’s Header Lifts Men’s Soccer Past Daniel Webster College, 1-0

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College sophomore midfielder Lorenzo Rolocut (Somers, Conn.) headed in what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute of action to help pace the Blazers to a hard-fought, 1-0 victory over Daniel Webster College in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's soccer game at Leary Field.

With the win, Elms concludes its regular season 9-8-0 overall, 5-2-0 in NECC action, while Daniel Webster moves to 8-9-1 on the season, 3-4-0 in NECC play.

In a tightly contested game throughout, Elms broke the scoreless deadlock at the 72:41 mark when sophomore midfielder Joe Pellegrini (Somers, Conn.) played a beautiful ball from the left side of the box into Rolocut crashing in on the right corner who headed the ball into the net to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead.

Rolocut had another scoring chance just two minutes later, but Daniel Webster goalkeeper Sean Hamilton (Brookline, N.H.) was there to make one of his 11 saves in the contest and keep the game at 1-0.

Marcos Vieira Filho (Hudson, N.H.) fired the Eagles' final salvo in the 78th minute and Daniel Webster could make nothing of a late corner kick by Erick Germano (Lowell, Mass.) as Elms held on for a 1-0 victory.

Blazers' sophomore goalkeeper Nick Pennant (Kingston, Jamaica) turned away all 11 shots he faced on net, while sophomore midfielder Safa Saady (Baghdad, Iraq) notched three shots on goal in the winning effort.

The Eagles' best opportunity came late in the first period when Richard Eaton (Hudson, N.H.) rang a shot off the post.

Elms' junior midfielder Joelle Reyes (San Salvador, El Salvador) hit the crossbar with a shot just 42 seconds into the second half.
