Adam O’Grady Nets Hat Trick as Men’s Soccer Downs Suffolk University, 4-1

SOMERVILLE, Mass. – Elms College senior forward Adam O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) found the back of the net three times and the Blazers scored three times in the second half to help secure a 4-1 non-conference victory over Suffolk University in Wednesday evening's men's soccer game.

With the win, Elms improves to 5-7-0 overall while Suffolk moves to 3-8-0 on the season.

The Blazers, who snapped a four game losing streak with the win, drew first blood in the 18th minute of action when Adam O'Grady netted the first of his three scoring strikes. The goal was the lone score of the half.

Ninety seconds into the second stanza, Adam O'Grady doubled Elms' lead after senior forward Ziggy Jonathan (Springfield, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Safa Saady (Baghdad, Iraq) executed some nice passing to bring the ball into scoring territory. Jonathan eventually found Adam O'Grady who delivered the ball into the net to give the Blazers a 2-0 lead.

Jonathan added a goal of his own six minutes later as he capitalized on a loose ball and fired in a shot from just outside the 18-yard box to extend the Blazers' lead to 3-0. Adam O'Grady then added his third goal in the 60th minute on a breakaway set up by sophomore forward Lorenzo Rolocut (Somers, Conn.) to increase the cushion to 4-0.

The Rams broke through in the 80th minute when Andres Cohen (Caracas, Venezuela) scored following a pass from Alberto Benhamu (Caracas, Venezuela) to set the final score at 4-1.

Elms' sophomore goalkeeper Nick Pennant (Kingston, Jamaica) made two saves in 75:10 of action between the pipes to earn the win, and sophomore net-minder John Matrisciano (West Haven, Conn.) made four saves in relief.

Suffolk goalkeeper Nicholas Chamma (Rio de Janero, Brazil) made seven saves in the losing effort.

Elms returns to league action on Saturday, October 12 at 3:30 p.m. when it hosts Newbury College at Leary Field.
