Men's Golf 16th After 18 Holes At Williams Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Elms College men's golf team sits 16th on the team leaderboard after the opening round of action at the Williams College Fall Invitational, hosted at Taconic Golf Club Saturday afternoon.

The Blazers carded a team score of 334 after the first 18 holes of play. Senior Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) leads the Blazers with a team-low 77 to claim a share of 19th overall. Junior Chris Soderberg (Northampton, Mass.) is tied at 67th with an 84, while junior James Shalhoup (North Easton, Mass.) is one stroke back with an 85 for a share of 73rd. Senior Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) shot an 88 for a tie at 79th, while freshman Frankie Murray (Belchertown, Mass.) rounded out the Blazers golfers with a 92 for a piece of 85th.

Trinity leads the tournament field with a team-low 294, followed by Williams (295), Middlebury (299), St. John Fisher (304) and Western New England to complete the top five. Manhattanville (309) owns sixth, trailed by Salem State (310), Babson (311), Amherst (313), Hamilton (317), Tufts (318), Rhode Island College (320), Johnson & Wales (RI) (325), Williams 'B' (329), Springfield (333), Elms (334), Bowdoin (347), Wesleyan (357) and MCLA (359).

The Blazers will tee off for the second round of play Sunday morning.
