Field Hockey Lose a Tough Game to Simmons

BRIGHTON, Mass. - The Elms College Field Hockey team traveled to Simmons University for a conference matchup Saturday morning.

Records: Blazers 0-12, 0-8 (GNAC) | Sharks 13-1, 7-0 (GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first quarter would see Simmons take seven shots in the first quarter, with the Elms defense making three blocks, but the Sharks would score one goal before the end of the quarter. The second quarter would see Simmons score their second goal early, followed by three more goals before the halftime horn. First-year goalkeeper Emily Hunt (Montrose, N.Y.) would record four saves in the quarter with the Blazers making one block. The Sharks would go into the half with a 5-0 lead.

Simmons would once again score two quick goals to start the third quarter. Hunt would make two saves and the Elms defense would add one last block in the quarter, but the Sharks would score a goal off of a penalty stroke. The fourth quarter would once again see Simmons score two more goals. The Blazers would try to hold off the Sharks offense defensively, but Simmons would score four more goals to defeat Elms 14-0.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Hunt recorded six saves of the 20 shots she faced.

  • The Elms defense would block five shots throughout the game.
