HOW IT HAPPENED
Regis College would begin the game with momentum on their side by having an offensive procession for the beginning of the first quarter. In the first quarter, junior goalie Katelyn Volk (Warwick, R.I) would have one save, but overall, the Blazers would have 3 defensive saves. This would include a defensive save by junior defender Elizabeth Franzoni (Rutland, Vt.), a defensive save by the team, and a defensive save by sophomore midfielder Olivia Ward (Harwick, Mass.). Even with these big saves, the Blazers were not able to put up any goals or shots. Unfortunately, the Blazers ended the first quarter 2-0. In the second quarter we would witness a similar narrative. However, Volk would have four big saves out of the five shots that were taken in the second quarter. Before halftime, the Blazers fell short, and the Pride would have the lead at 3-0.
At the start of the third quarter, the Pride would start with a goal, but the Blazers would have a good defensive run by blocking two shots that were made. At the end of the third quarter, the score would be 4-0. At the start of the fourth and final quarter, the Blazers would have their first offensive procession of the game. This would then put junior midfielder/defender Abbie Seirzego (South Hadley, Mass.) in the position to shoot but shot wide. Volk would have another big save and Seirzego would have another shot in the fourth quarter. However, the Pride would put up 4 more goals in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, the Blazer were not able to secure the win, and the Pride defeated the Blazers 8-0 at home.
