Blazers Edged By AMCATS

CHICOPEE, MA - Field Hockey fell short 2-1 this afternoon against conference team, Anna Maria AMCATS. Senior Ellie Serra redirected the ball into the back of the cage to get the Blazers on the scoreboard in the third quarter.

How it Happened

In Saturday's conference action, the first half was action-packed between the Blazers and the AMCATS. Both teams were even in shots in the first half, having two (2) shots each. The AMCATS were able to crack one into the Blazer's cage, the goal was scored by forwarding Carly Drew with just 1 minute left to play in the first. The second period was a battle between the two teams, both playing great lockdown defense. The Blazers and the AMCATS only had 1 shot on goal in the 2nd period which led into halftime with the Blazers down 1-0.

The second half was all Blazers. The Blazers outshot the Amcats 7-2 led by a 3rd-period goal by Ellie Serra. Shortly after the Blazer's goal, the AMCATS answered back with another goal by Meghan Sonia to take a 2-1 lead. Despite the second-half pressure with their 7 shots and 8 corners, the Blazers were unable to take the lead late in the second half falling to the AMCATS by a score of 2-1.
