Blazers Takedown Blue Jays on the Road Tonight

WEST, HARTFORD - The Elms College field hockey team heads home after a 2-1 victory against the University of St. Joseph's Blue Jay's tonight. Both Blazers goals were scored by senior captain Katie Jones!

How it Happened

The rain didn't stop the Blazers from getting in the groove in today's victory over conference match up against the University St Joseph's Blue Jay's. The Blue Jay's and Blazers traded shot for shot throughout the first half until the Blazers took the lead early with a goal from Katie Jones at the 14:53 minute mark. The excitement continued between both teams into the second quarter. When the Blazers advance the lead to 2-0 when Jones scores her second goal of the game.  Jones gets help from teammate Abbie Sierzego who assisted her goal at 26:27 mark. 

Blazers go into the half up 2-0. The Blazers goalie Kaitlyn Lynes kept the Blue Jays to a 2-0 shut out in the first half with one save. The Blue Jays never let up getting on the board in the 3rd quarter. Blue Jay's end up hitting the back of the cage with a goal scored by Arianna Komonaj in the 32:31 mark to close the gap on the Blazers lead.  Komonaj goal was assisted by teammate Devan Fox making the score 2-1.  

Both teams battle it out in the final quarter of the game. The Blazer hold strong to clinch their first win of the season.
