Women's Volleyball Wraps Season at Lesley

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-1 win over Elms College in New England Collegiate Conference actiontonight at the Nicholas Athletics Center. Lynx sophomore Kaylee Deluga (Dennis, Mass.) set a new four-set program record as she slammed down 24 kills to power the hosts' offense.

Lesley used set scores of 25-16, 25-27, 25-15, and 25-12 to secure the win. 

Prior to the match, the Lynx honored Anthea Rathjens (Sudbury, Mass.), Emily Marden (Fremont, Calif.), Danielle McDonald (Lilitz, Pa.), and Katey Carew (Salem, N.H.) for all of their contributions to the women's volleyball program and the Lesley Athletics Department with a Senior Night celebration.

Rathjens thoroughly enjoyed Senior Night as she knocked down a career-best 11 kills while swinging .440 while sophomore Ciara Bruning (Centerville, Mass.) buried ten kills for the Lynx. Marden led all players with 40 assists to go with her seven kills and eight digs while McDonald led the defense with 21 digs. Deluga was nearly unstoppable as she swung .500 on the night on 42 total attacks while she also netted a pair of service aces.

As a team the Lynx hit .326 in the match, their second-highest percentage of the season.

Elms freshman Danielle Redding (Las Vegas, Nev.) led the Blazers with 15 kills, 11 digs, and two block assists while classmate Lindsey McNif (Kingston, Mass.)finished with eight kills on a .583 hitting percentage on the night. Senior Alex Mack (Wilbraham, Mass.) added five kills and 13 digs and sophomore Kate Moriarty (Agawam, Mass.) chipped in with six kills and ten digs.

Lesley held an advantage in kills (58-39), hitting percentage (.326 - .136), and total blocks (4-2) while Elms held an edge in digs (67-53).

The Lynx have solidified the number two seed in this week's NECC Tournament and will enjoy a first round bye on Tuesday before playing in the Semifinals on Friday at top-seeded Regis College.
