Daniel Webster Sweeps Women's Volleyball

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College women's volleyball team had a big blow delat to their postseason hopes as visiting Daniel Webster College swept the Blazers in three sets, 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-22), in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) tilt at Picknelly Arena Tuesday night. The Blazers move to 4-16 overall, and 1-5 in NECC play, while Daniel Webster evened their conference mark to 3-3 with a 7-18 season record.

Freshman Danielle Redding (Las Vegas, N.V.) paced the Blazers with a team-high six kills, 14 digs and three blocks. Senior Alex Mack (Wilbraham, Mass.) and freshman Rachel Magnuson (Miller Place, N.Y.) tallied five kills and a service ace apiece. Mack added 10 digs, while freshman Caroline Locke (West Springfield, Mass.) snared a career-high 18 digs. Sophomore Kate Moriarty (Agawam, Mass.) and Lindsey McNiff (Kingston, Mass.) recorded four kills each. Senior Shannon Bolton (Shelton, Conn.) registered 21 assists and two blocks.

The Eagles were led by sophomore Hannah Koehler (Bedford, N.H.) with a match-high 14 kills and three blocks. Sophomore Courtney Warrington (Canton, Texas) notched eight kills with a match-high 21 digs, while sophomore Nicole Beard (Shelton, Conn.) racked up a match-high 35 assists with four digs. Junior Madeline Roulier (Pittsfield, Mass.) and sophomore Amanda Gendron (Mont Vernon, N.H.) chipped in seven kills apiece.

The Blazers will return to action with a non-conference road trip to Albertus Magnus Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. Daniel Webster hosts Green Mountain in non-conference play Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
