MCLA Downs Women's Volleyball in Three Sets
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The MCLA Volleyball team kept their winning ways as they rolled to their sixth straight win with a 3-0 victory over visiting Elms College. With the win, the Trailblazers are now 7-3 on the season while Elms drops to 1-7.
Allison Clark led MCLA with a match high 19 kills and 9 digs. Margaret Allen had a nice night finishing with 10 kills.
MCLA rolled in the opening set winning by a wide margin of 25-7. Courtney Parent had three aces in the middle of an 8-0 run by the Trailblazers as they cruised. The Trailblazers would take the second set in much different fashion turning a 10-6 deficit into a 25-15 set win. The 13-0 spurt was fueled by Clark and Allen as they combined for eight kills during that span.
The Trailblazers would clinch the victory with a 25-13 win in the final set.
Other Trailblazers filling the stat sheet were Beatrice Lechler who had 18 assists and 8 digs. Taylor Wiese came off the bench to collect 7 assists in the win.
Elms was paced by Danielle Reading's team best five kills. Carolyn Campbell had ten assists and eight digs in defeat.
The Blazers will return to the court in a tri-match hosted at Curry College Saturday afternoon. Elms faces Salem State at 1 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. tilt with the Colonels. MCLA will be back at home on Saturday when they host Becker and Green Mountain in a tri match beginning at 11am.
