Women's Volleyball Falls to Sage, SUNY Cobleskill in Second Day of the Blazer Challenge

Chicopee, Mass- The Elms College women's volleyball team suffered a pair of losses in the second day of action in the 2014 Blazer Challenge on Saturday afternoon at Pickney arena.

Elms (1-2), lost a hard fought 3-2 match to Suny Cobleskill (25-10,18-25,25-20,18-25,15-11) before falling to Sage 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-18).

In Elms' second day of action, they had a thrilling five sets against Suny Cobleskill that saw the Blazers tie the series 2-2 before Suny Cobleskill won the final set. Elms was lead by junior outside hitter Alexandra Mack (Wilbraham Mass) who smashed a team best 11 kills and fellow junior Shannon Bolton(Shelton, Conn) who dished out 24 assists.

The Blazers were on the attack with a match high 38 kills and highlighting four players who had at least 6 kills. Elms had a match high 40 assists and 8 aces against Suny Cobleskill.

In Elms' second match senior Christine Searles (Tolland, Mass) lead the Blazers with 9 kills, 6 digs, and 2 aces, while fellow senior Caitlyn Larvey (Greenfield, Mass) amassed a match high 12 digs.

Elms had an impressive 26 kills and 5 aces against Sage in the final match of the 2014 Blazer Challenge.  The Blazers return to action on Friday, Sept 5 at the WNEU Invitational.
