WEST HARTFORD, CT- Elms College Women's Soccer falls to the Blue Jays late in the conference matchup Wednesday Night.

How it Happened

The first half was very back and forth between the Blazers and the Blue Jays. Both teams traded shots till the Blue Jays slipped it between the posts in the 26th minute. It did not take long for the Blazers to strike back, ten minutes later Abby Goodnow (Goshen, MA) took one touch and scored a long shot that beat the goalkeeper from outside the eighteen. After the Blazer goal, the Blazers took that momentum into the half tied at one a piece. 

The second half was a battle all the way till the finish. Both teams played hard and battled for the ball. The Blazers taking five shots put the pressure on the Blue Jays defense. The Blazers fought hard till the very last minute but the Blue Jays offense cracked the Blazers defense for a goal to take the lead in the 89th minute. Elms would fall 2-1 to the University of Saint Joseph.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Abby Goodnow scored the equalizing goal in the first half to tie the game up 1-1

  • Gianna Liquori (East Longmeadow, MA) attained three saves in the contest.
