Women's Soccer Picks Up Conference Win On Senior Day

CHICOPEE, MA - After a hard fight against the Rivier Raiders the Blazers were able to secure the win with a goal from first year Jamie McDonough. Elms women's soccer would continue with a steady offensive push, finishing the game 1-0.

How it Happened

The Blazers started the game with a strong offensive push taking six on-goal shots in just the first 20 minutes of play. It wasn't until their tenth on-goal were the Blazers able to send one into the back of the net. With a leading pass by senior captain Kayla Pasquel, first-year Jamie McDonough was able to draw out the Raiders goalkeeper, Emily Mikelson just enough to slip the ball right into the goal. Gianna Liquori tended net for the Blazers holding the Raiders to a shutout in the first half with six saves. Elms would hold their 1-0 lead over Rivier heading into the half.

 Elms' senior Taylor Floser started off the second half by cracking a shot on-goal from outside the top left of the box just one minute into the half. The Blazer's energy continues for the rest of the match by out shooting the visiting Raiders 13-7, 28-13 overall. Despite their constent pressure on the ball and drive towards the net, the Blazers were unable to send another one into the back of the net. Liquori would hold the Raiders to a shutout having one more save in the second, seven overall. Elms would win 1-0 in the conference match up.
