How it Happened

The Elm's women's soccer team hopped off the bus ready to battle against the Anna Maria AMCATS. Just 30 minutes into the first half the Blazers get on the scoreboard with a magnificant free kick taken by Hailey Magierowski. Once the ball took flight to the net you could tell that it was going in, and just like that with a kiss on the crossbar the ball fell perfectly behind Amcats goalkeeper Alice Yokabaskas. Elm's Abby Goodnow had an opportunity before the half to get the Blazers another goal but the shot landed over the goal. Blazers goalkeeper Angela Picheo kept the net empty with 3 saves in the first half keeping it scoreless for the AMCATS. Heading into the half the Blazers held a 1-0 lead.

Magierowski attempted to get another shot off but was blocked by the AMCATS defence. Jordyn Butler from Anna Maria answered back with a goal to tie up the score 1-1 in the 62:18 minute mark. First year Jamie McDonough tried to grab the lead for the Blazers less than a minte later but was saved by Yokabaskas. It wasn't until the 78th minute that the Blazers jumped back into the lead with a goal scored by Caroline Wilcox, her third for the season. With just 10 minutes to play the AMCATS snuck in a second goal from Ashley Dickinson, tieing the game back up 2-2. Wilcox had two attempts on goal, but was unsuccessful. The Blazers would end the night with a 2-2 draw with conference team Anna Maria.
