Swimming Wraps Season at WNEU Time Trials

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Due to the cancellation of the final day of competition at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championship, the Blazers traveled to Western New England University for make-up time trials to close out the 2014-15 season.

On the men's side, sophomore Nick Cirillo (Gloversville, N.Y.) set a new school record in the 1650 meter freestyle, taking first place in a time of 17:12.77. Junior James Grippo (Longmeadow, Mass.) finished second in the 1650 meter free with his top time of the season (18:20.68), while junior DJ Sherman (Winstead, Conn.) claimed third in the event with a personal best time of 19:20.86. Senior Niels Thomsen (Southington, Conn.) clocked a personal best in the 100 meter freestyle with a time of 53.91. In the 100 meter individual medley, sophomore Nick Bergstrom (Derry, N.H.) and freshman Mike DiPasquale (Meriden, Conn.) each posted personal best times at 56.63 and 1:05.80, respectively. DisPasquale took second in the 50 yard mixed breaststroke (30.93), while junior Misha Kuyuzov (Swampscott, Mass.) recorded a time of 1:01.28 in the 100 meter individual medley.

For the women, freshman Ashlee Connors (Springfield, Mass.) registered her personal best time in the 50 meter backstroke at 29.58 for first place. Junior Crystal Archibald (Portland, Maine) set her personal best in the 200 meter breaststroke with a time of 2:58.75. Sophomore Abigail Will (Hopkinton, Mass.) swam a season's best time of 1:09.72 in the 100 meter IM.
