Swimming Finds Success at Day Two of NEISDA Championships

SOUTH KINGSTON, R.I. – The Elms College men's and women's team continued to find success on the second day of competition at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships Saturday night.

Junior James Grippo (Longmeadow, Mass.) placed sixth in the 400 meter individual medley with a time of 4:43.47. DJ Sherman (Winstead, Conn.) was 13th in the 400 meter IM (5:02.05). Sophomore Nick Cirillo (Gloversville, N.Y.) claimed eighth in the 200 meter freestyle (1:48.07). Sophomore Nick Bergstrom (Derry, N.H.) finished ninth in the 50 yard butterfly (24.98). Senior Niels Thomsen (Southington, Conn.) finished 16th in the 200 meter freestyle (1:57.86). The 200 meter individual medley team of Grippo, junior Misha Kuyuzov (Swampscott, Mass.), Bergstrom, and Cirillo finished tenth overall with a time of 1:47.83. In the 800 meter freestyle, the team of Cirillo, Bergstrom, Grippo, and Thomsen posted a seventh-place finish with a time of 7:38.99.

The Blazers will wrap up their season with the final day of competition at the NEISDA Championships Sunday afternoon.
