Men’s and Women’s Swimming Split at Norwich University

Final Results

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Elms College sophomore Keegan Goan (Westbrook, Maine) won three events on the men's side and sophomore Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.) captured three first place finishes for the women in Friday evening's men's and women's swimming dual meet at Norwich University.

The women posted a 135-87 victory to improve to 7-4 on the season, while Norwich's men's team earned a 154-80 victory over the Blazers. Elms' men's team is now 3-3-1 on the season.

Goan won the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 27.38, won the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 24.88 and touched the wall first in the 100-yard individual medley by clocking a time of 1:03.21.

Senior Garrett Brune (Lakeville, Mass.) added a top finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.32) while junior Mark Gehring (West Springfield, Mass.) added a pair of second place finishes.

On the women's side, DeGrazia secured a trio of top finishes including the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.21), the 50-yard freestyle (26.00) and the 100-yard freestyle (56.34).

Junior Emalee Furtek (Ludlow, Mass.) notched two first place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (1:10.00) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:11.71) and four other swimmers swam to top honors in the meet. Freshman Rebecca Yungk (New Britain, Conn.) won the 1650-yard freestyle (20:59.69), junior Chalis Bird (Windsor, Mass.) won the 50-yard backstroke (32.23), sophomore Ashley Kirchner (Dalton, Mass.) won the 50-yard breaststroke (34.40) and junior Tessa Dudunake (Northampton, Mass.) glided to first place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.06).

Elms returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 28 when it hosts Regis College and Assumption College at 11:00 a.m. at Partyka Natatorium.
