Metelus Nabs NECC Rookie Of The Week Honor

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College freshman Greg Metelus (Palm Beach, Fla.) earned New England Collegiate Conference men’s basketball Rookie of the Week honors on Monday after averaging 16.0 points per game and leading the Blazers to a pair of NECC wins to wrap up the regular season.

Metelus scored 15 points in a win over top-seeded Southern Vermont College on Feb. 14, putting the Blazers in position for a bid in this week’s NECC Tournament. He followed that up with 17 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer, in Elms’ 56-53 road win at Lesley in the regular season finale.

The Blazers will visit Mitchell College on Feb. 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the NECC quarterfinal.
