Metelus Named NECC Rookie Of The Year

ATTLEBORO – Elms College freshman Greg Metelus (Palm Beach, Fla.) was voted the New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year by the conference’s head coaches, the league announced on Monday.

The freshman made an immediate impact for a Blazers team that made its return to the NECC Conference Tournament after a one-year hiatus. Playing in 13 of the 14 conference games, Metelus led Elms with 15.1 points per game, tops among NECC rookies. He led Elms in steals at 1.1 per game, and chipped in 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He earned NECC Rookie of the Week honors once (week ending 2/19/18).

Tyler Sterling represented Elms on the All-NECC Sportsmanship Team, which features one player from each of the eight NECC teams.
