Dean College Deals Blazer Men's Basketball 76-65 Loss

Chicopee, Mass.- Dean College's backcourt was too much to handle for the Elms College men's basketball team, as the Blazers fell to the Bulldogs 76-65 on Tuesday night.

The Blazers were led by freshman Pablo Ortiz, who finished with a double-double.  Ortiz poured in 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including three 3s, and added 12 rebounds. Greg Metelus had 13 points, three assists and one block for the Blazers.   

Dean got very strong guard play all night. Randolf Thurman finished with a game-high 23 points with a strong 64 percent shooting performance. Jordan Booker finished with 15 points and seven assists, and was 7-of-8 at the free throw line.

After shooting 41.7 percent at the line in the first half, Dean went 12-of-14 from the line in the second. Thurman and Booker were a combined 13-of-15 from the stripe for the game. Armani Baker finished with 13 points and Dayvon Russell had 11 for the Bulldogs.

Dean forced the Blazers into 21 turnovers in the game, while only turning the ball over 12 times.  The Bulldogs also had 15 assists compared to the Blazers' eight.

Elms fell to 0-4 in the New England Collegiate Conference and 0-13 overall with the loss, while Dean advanced to 7-6 and 2-2 in the NECC. The Blazers are back in action on Thursday against Wheelock at home, while Dean is home against Lesley.
