Dean Named Interim Men’s Basketball Head Coach

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College assistant men's basketball coach Todd Dean has been named the interim men's basketball head coach.

Dean has spent the last 10 years as an assistant under departing 11-year head coach Ed Silva. Dean arrived for the 2002-03 season as a volunteer assistant and in 2003-04 was promoted to the top assistant position. Since then he has helped direct the men's basketball program to nine winning seasons including a stretch of seven consecutive seasons that saw the Blazers stake 20 or more wins between 2004-05 and 2010-11.

During his time as an assistant, the team won seven conference titles, including four in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and three in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC).Elms also made six NCAA Division III Championship appearances in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011 and two Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) appearances in 2010 and 2012 including the program's first-ever ECAC title in 2010.  

Prior to coaching at Elms, Dean served as assistant men's basketball coach at Eastern Connecticut State for four years and helped guide the Warriors to a berth in the 2000 NCAA Division III Championship.
