Men’s Basketball Downs Southern Vermont College, 95-54

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Elms College junior guard Andre French (Torrington, Conn.) scored a team-high 18 points on 7 of 11 shooting and junior forward Jamal Hulum (Reston, Va.) added 13 off the bench to help the Blazers notch a 95-54 victory over Southern Vermont College in Wednesday evening's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's basketball game in Bennington, Vt.

With the win, Elms improves to 15-9 overall, 10-5 in league play, while Southern Vermont falls to 2-21 on the season, 2-13 in NECC action.

Elms shot an impressive 58.5-percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes of play and 15 players scored in the contest to help the Blazers cruise to victory.

Elms' senior guard Daniel Gonzalez (East Windsor, Conn.) provided a deep-threat off the bench, connecting for three three-pointers en route to nine points in 11 minutes of action, while junior guard James Black (Baltimore, Md.) added eight points.

Junior forward David McDaniel (Plainfield, N.J.) followed with seven points, while four players scored six points including freshman forward Kenneth Lockett (Atlanta, Ga.), junior forward Isaiah Odunlami (Providence, R.I.), freshman guard Jake Abel (Fairfield, Calif.) and junior forward Darius Griffin (Winter Haven, Fla.).

Freshman guard Piere Simpson (East Hartford, Conn.) added six assists, while Lockett hauled in a game-high 10 rebounds.

Southern Vermont was led by Taeshon Johnson's (Charlotte, N.C.) game-high 21 points, while the Mountaineers received 11-point efforts from Travis Severs (Bennington, Vt.) and Hunter Stratton (Bennington, Vt.).

Johnson was also Southern Vermont's main force on the glass as he finished with a team-best eight boards.

Elms closes out its regular season on Saturday, Feb. 18 with a 4:00 p.m. contest against Wheelock College at Picknelly Arena.
